As the child of Maritimer parents growing up in Alberta, it was important to Dr. Knowlton to discover his roots as soon as he could, and he decided to undertake both his BSc and DDS degrees at Dalhousie University in Halifax.
After completion of his dental degree, Dr. Knowlton moved on to Toronto where he completed a one-year dental residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. Upon completion of the residency, Dr. Knowlton took advantage of the opportunity to practice dentistry in his hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta. For the following three years, Dr. Knowlton practiced all facets of general dentistry, with a particular focus on treating children. It was during his time as a general dentist that Dr. Knowlton discovered his passion for orthodontics.
Dr. Knowlton gained acceptance into the University of Toronto’s Graduate Orthodontic program where he completed his MSc. Next, he took his Royal College of Dentists Fellowship exams and decided to move his young family back to Nova Scotia to settle down.
When he isn’t helping patients in the HRM achieve beautiful, healthy smiles, he’s most often found with is wife and two daughters. You’ll also find him indulging his passions for baseball, golf and snowboarding whenever he can.
