During a docbraces consultation, we take x-rays and photos of the teeth and jaw, followed by a detailed examination by the Orthodontist. The Orthodontist then uses this imagery along with his or her exam findings to develop a treatment plan tailored to the patient's individual needs. Then, one of our friendly treatment coordinators reviews the details of the prescribed plan with the patient, explores financing options with them, and answers any questions they may have.
From experience and data we know that, by the time they make this first appointment with us, a patient or parent has very likely discussed the issue with their dentist, searched for information online, and/or spoken with a friend or family member who was thrilled with the results of their braces or Invisalign®. They've taken the time to choose our clinic over others based on their research, a referral, or a trusted testimonial. They've looked into the ballpark cost of treatment and determined that it fits within their personal or family budget. They've discussed the decision with their family or spouse, and they're ready to take the next step!
We know that our patients usually come to this first appointment armed with information and confident in trusting our expertise. We also know that they are busy people — they have families and full schedules. It's not always easy or convenient to take time away from work or school, take transit across town, or — for those in remote communities — drive to multiple appointments. So, we always want to make sure that we're doing everything we can to maximize a patient’s time while they’re in our office.
More and more, we are finding that patients are ready to get their braces on or be scanned for Invisalign the very first time they come in! Of course, this isn't always possible; some patients are directed to visit their dentist to address underlying dental health issues before we can work with them. But in the majority of cases, they're ready to start their smile journey right away. We're thrilled to be able to offer this "little extra" to our new patients if it’s right for them, so they can save time and reach their smile goals faster. And the patients are just as thrilled: they leave our clinic over the moon with excitement about getting started, and they can't wait to show their loved ones!
